The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has expressed its readiness to strengthen collaboration with the Department of State Services (DSS) to bolster security across the territory.
The Commandant of the NSCDC FCT Command, Dr Olusola Odumosu, made this known on Tuesday during a courtesy visit by the newly deployed State Director of the DSS, FCT Command, Usman Dauda, to his office in Wuse Zone 5, Abuja.
Odumosu noted that the FCT is fortunate to have Service Commanders who understand the importance of synergy and collaboration, which he credited for the relative peace currently being experienced in the territory.
“Of course, we know that no security agency has a monopoly on strategy. Hence, there is a need for interdependence to achieve better results in our efforts to guarantee security and safety for citizens. Our Command is fully committed to strengthening this well-established relationship.”
“The NSCDC and DSS have long been partners in progress. We have also enjoyed similar cooperation with other sister agencies because our duties are interconnected. Your visit today further consolidates that synergy, which is essential in carrying out our assigned mandates in the territory,” the Commandant said.
In a statement issued by the Acting Public Relations Officer of the NSCDC FCT Command, Monica Ojobi, Odumosu assured the DSS Director of the Command’s full cooperation in all areas of operational interface, especially intelligence sharing and joint security operations within the FCT.
“We will continue to enhance our collaboration with the DSS to tackle criminality and other societal vices by leveraging our existing relationship to improve security and ensure that peace and order reign supreme in the FCT and its environs,” Odumosu affirmed.
In his remarks, the DSS Director, Usman Dauda, Esq., stated that the visit was aimed at building on the already productive synergy between the DSS and the FCT NSCDC.

He noted that the Act establishing the Corps assigned it significant responsibilities, and the expectations placed upon it include bridging national security gaps.
Dauda commended the Corps for consistently meeting those expectations and encouraged them to continue giving their best in ensuring law and order in the FCT.
He further stated that efforts are ongoing to elevate national security to the desired standard and expressed confidence that when all stakeholders contribute their capacity and experience, the country will achieve a stronger and more secure environment.
The DSS Director assured the Commandant of the continued support and collaboration of the Department of State Services with the NSCDC both on the field and in other relevant areas of partnership.
