The leadership of the Northern community in Imo State has disclosed their strong position to assist security agencies in fishing out criminally minded elements hiding in the state
The Sairiki Hausawa of Imo State, Alhaji Hawal Sulieman, said this on Thursday when he played host to the Imo State Commissioner of Police, CP Aboki Danjuma, and his entourage at his Ama Hausa palace in Owerri.
Sariki Hausawa expressed gratitude to the Commissioner of Police for his pragmatic efforts in safeguarding the lives and properties of the residents of the state.
He assured the CP of continued partnership, particularly in providing actionable intelligence that will assist in fishing out criminally minded elements
He affirmed that, as custodian of the Northern Settlements in the state, he is highly committed to promoting a culture of peaceful coexistence for the economic growth and development of the state.
In his responses, the Commissioner of Police in Imo State, CP Aboki Danjuma, emphasised the crucial role traditional leaders play in maintaining peace and order within their domain.
He urged the Sariki to implore his followers to shun all forms of criminal activity and continue to collaborate with the security agencies in the fight against violent crimes in the state.
The CP, in recognising the significance of community engagement in combating crime, affirmed that the command under his watch will continue to collaborate with stakeholders in the state and embrace efforts that will foster community participation in the fight against crime and criminality in the state.
The security meeting with the northern settlements in the state is in continuation of the CP’s community-policing-oriented approach to combating crime in Imo State and to brainstorm on security issues concerning the state and collaboratively roll out strategies that will improve the overall safety and security of all people in the state.
The meeting had in attendance the Sariki Hausawa, Imo State, HRH Alhaji Hawal Sulieman, and members of his cabinet: Chief Imam of the State, Barrister Tony Benson, Chief Imam 34 Artillery Brigade, Major Ridwan Imam, former special adviser to the Governor on Northern Affairs, Sulieman Ibrahim, Chairman, Bureau of Change, Ama Hausa, Alhaji Hamza Abdullahi, representatives of the State Government, and the management team of the Command.
