The North East Elders and Youth Peoples Forum (NEEYPF) has applauded President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the reappointment of Goni Ibrahim Alkali as the Managing Director and Chief Executive of the North East Development Commission (NEDC).
Alhaji Salihu Magaji, Chairman of the Forum, expressed this sentiment on Wednesday during a press conference held at the Hazibal International Conference Hall in Bauchi.
Magaji stated that the President’s decision to reappoint Goni Alkali as MD/CEO of NEDC demonstrated his prowess as a master strategist and a true Nigerian patriot who is committed to building a Nigeria that benefits all citizens.
He further remarked, “The calibre of people just appointed by Mr President, especially quintessential leaders like Goni Alkali, proves what most of us already know about his ability to spot talent and reward hard work.”
Magaji expressed the happiness of the Forum members in the entire North East, affirming that President Tinubu found Goni Alkali, their leader and mentor, worthy of the appointment as the Managing Director of NEDC.
He described Alkali as a man of the people, a workaholic, and a patriot who has consistently shown concern for the welfare and well-being of the North East and Nigerians across the region and beyond.
The Chairman expressed confidence that both the North East and Nigerians at large would greatly benefit from Alkali’s wealth of experience, competence, and commitment to national development.
Magaji also believed that with esteemed technocrats like Alkali, who work tirelessly to enhance the well-being of the citizenry, President Tinubu would leave behind a legacy of projects in the North East and Nigeria.
Magaji congratulated the reappointed MD/CEO, expressing his belief that Goni Alkali, as an achiever, would continue to provide exemplary leadership that genuinely rebuilds the North East region and beyond. He assured Alkali of the continued support of all stakeholders in the region.
He concluded by appealing to Nigerians to support the federal government’s initiatives to transform the country and maintain peace while abiding by the law.
He emphasized that the country belongs to all and urged everyone not to engage in any actions that could harm it.
It should be noted that President Bola Tinubu has requested the Senate to screen and confirm the reappointment of Mohamed Goni Alkali as the Managing Director/CEO of the North-East Development Commission (NEDC) and 10 others.
The request also includes the confirmation of members and Executive Management of the Board of the NEDC.
