My first daughter who is 15 years of age has not seen her menses while her breasts are yet to sprout. She also has some masculine features including an excessive love for playing football with boys of her age. I am worried. Please help.

Your worries may be founded in view of your observation and the presence of some children who are transgender. Unfortunately, there’s no simple test to tell if a child is transgender. Experts often use the concept of “insistence, consistence, and persistence” to gauge if a child’s behaviour is more than a phase. The longer and more insistently a child states they’re a different gender, the less likely they are to change their mind. Having said this, a visit to an expert physician at the nearest specialist or teaching hospital to you who will order for some chromosomal studies will be helpful
