… to empower youths to understand lawmaking and governance

As Nigeria approaches the 2027 general elections, Africana League, dedicated to inspiring, training, and promoting a new generation of patriotic and capable young leaders, has announced the launch of a new reality TV show titled ‘Nigeria House of Commons’.

Designed to raise political awareness and empower youth participation in governance, the show will premiere on YouTube today, Wednesday, July 30.

In its mission to educate Nigerian Youths on governance, Africana League is using entertainment to drive political literacy. By combining the structure of parliamentary democracy with the energy of youth-driven media, Nigerian House of Commons aims to demystify governance and disrupt elite political dominance in Nigeria.

The show will feature thirteen episodes where contestants act as legislators, representing each of Nigeria’s 36 states and the FCT. They will be split across two fictional but ideologically distinct political parties.

Weekly sessions will simulate real-life parliamentary activities, including drafting motions, debating policies, caucus deliberations, and live voting. Audience members will play a key role in the democratic process, participating in real-time voting, polling, and commentary.

Speaking on the launch, Glory Ukwenga, founder and Executive Director of Africana League, shared her vision for the show: “We are excited to launch a TV show that gives young Nigerians a firsthand look at the lawmaking process in Nigeria. As an organisation committed to educating youths on politics and governance, we created this show to empower them and to dismantle the myths around access to political participation.”

Nigeria House of Commons is not just a reality show; it’s a platform for civic education, youth advocacy, and the reimagining of Nigeria’s political future.
