THE Chapel Hill Denham Nigeria Infrastructure Debt Fund (NIDF) has reinforced its position as one of the Nigerian capital market’s most consistent income-generating investment vehicles, posting a pre-tax profit of N10.63 billion for the first half of 2026, while surpassing a landmark N100 billion in cumulative distributions to investors since its listing nine years ago.
The infrastructure-focused fund, listed on the Nigerian Exchange (NGX) under the ticker NIDF, also declared a second-quarter distribution of N4.40 per unit, extending its uninterrupted record of quarterly payouts and underlining the resilience of infrastructure debt investments despite a softer interest rate environment.
The latest distribution, announced for the quarter ended June 30, 2026, represents the Fund’s 37th payout, comprising 36 quarterly distributions and one special distribution, and will bring total cash returned to investors to approximately N104.3 billion since inception in 2017.
The performance comes at a time investors are increasingly seeking stable income-generating assets amid changing monetary conditions and declining government bond yields.
NIDF said it has delivered a cumulative return of 449.07 percent on every naira invested since its debut on the capital market in June 2017 and currently offers a trailing 12-month dividend yield of 18.23 percent based on its net asset value per unit, maintaining its appeal to yield-focused investors.
Financial results released by the Fund showed total income of N11.80 billion during the first half of the year, representing an 8.1 percent decline from the corresponding period of 2025, largely reflecting lower returns from infrastructure lending as benchmark sovereign yields eased.
Interest income from infrastructure loans declined by 23 percent year-on-year, which the Fund attributed primarily to the sustained moderation in yields on the benchmark 10-year Federal Government of Nigeria bond. The average yield fell to 15.70 percent during the first half of 2026 from 19.06 percent in the same period of last year.

However, stronger earnings from liquidity management helped cushion the impact of lower lending yields. Interest income from bank deposits surged by 154.5 per cent to N3.3 billion, highlighting the Fund’s ability to optimise returns across its investment portfolio despite changing market conditions.
The Fund also maintained a healthy balance sheet. Financial assets measured at fair value declined by 6.3 per cent year-to-date to N91.1 billion following loan repayments and prepayments, while total assets edged marginally lower to N137.3 billion from N137.7 billion at the end of 2025. Total liabilities also improved, declining five per cent to N6.8 billion.
Operationally, NIDF continued to deepen its role in financing Nigeria’s critical infrastructure by expanding its portfolio of long-term infrastructure loans. The Fund said it now has exposure to 17 infrastructure loans spread across seven strategic sectors, including power generation, energy infrastructure, transportation, telecommunications, education and healthcare.
Management said demand for long-term naira-denominated infrastructure financing has continued to grow, reinforcing the Fund’s ambition to remain the leading infrastructure debt fund in Nigeria and Sub-Saharan Africa.
The Fund noted that mobilising domestic capital for infrastructure financing remains critical to addressing Nigeria’s infrastructure deficit while providing investors with predictable long-term cash flows and preserving capital.
With a capital base exceeding N130.5 billion, NIDF remains Nigeria’s largest listed infrastructure debt fund and Africa’s first publicly listed infrastructure debt vehicle, providing investors with regular quarterly distributions while supporting commercially viable infrastructure projects across the country.
