A non-governmental organisation ((NGO), Care for Women and Girl-Child International, has restated its commitment to the protection, empowerment and uplift of women and young girls as it distributed food items and essential drugs to 1,500 residents of Ibadan, Oyo State.
Speaking at the outreach programme held in Ibadan, the founder of the organisation, Mrs Tolanikawo Adelakun-Akande, said the initiative was driven by the belief that families and communities thrive when women and girls are safe, educated and supported.
She explained that the initiative was purely humanitarian and not politically motivated, adding that it was designed to provide succour to vulnerable members of society, particularly women and young girls who are often most affected by economic and health challenges.
Adelakun-Akande noted that the NGO focuses on advocacy, education, capacity building and social support, addressing issues such as Gender-Based Violence (GBV), access to education, health awareness and economic empowerment through community engagement and partnerships.
One of the beneficiaries, Ghaniyat Adetunji, expressed appreciation to the organisation and its founder, describing the intervention as timely and impactful, and noted that the distributed items will go a long way in easing the burden on needy residents and improving their wellbeing.
