A man, Mouruf has dragged his wife, Fatima, before a Grade A Customary Court, Court 2, Mapo, Ibadan, Oyo State, seeking the dissolution of their wedlock on the account of lack of love and irresponsibility. Mouruf added in his submission that Fatima was a member of the Oodua People’s Congress (OPC) and that she kept late nights.
Mouruf further said in his testimony that Fatima constantly denied him sex and would always drank herself to stupor.
The plaintiff, in his submission, also pleaded for their children’s custody.
Fatima, who was in court the first day the case was mentioned, denied all the allegations brought against her by her enstranged husband.

Mouruf in his testimony said, “I am fed up with my wife. I, therefore pray to be released from the bondage I went into with her called marriage.
“My wife and I met in 2002 and we started living together as husband and wife. We did not carry out any marital rites, and I did not pay her bride price.
“My joy in our wedlock was short-lived because my wife made our relationship sour. Fatima became a thorn in the flesh.
“My wife stopped showing interest in my well-being shortly after we started living together. She gave me no attention and showed me neither love nor care.
“Fatima became rebellious and started rubbing shoulders with me in the home. She flouted my orders at will.
“My wife joined the Oodua People’s Congress (OPC) against my will, and she became totally uncontrollable. She stopped sleeping at home and spent most of her time outside the home.
“Fatima now keeps late nights. She does not return home earlier than 12:00 a.m. any time she decides to sleep at home.
“My wife also denies me my conjugal right. The last time we had sex was one year and eight months ago.
“My lord, I do not wish to continue in my marriage to my wife. I pray the court to dissolve our wedlock and grant me custody of our children because she has no time for them.
“I also request an order restricting her from harassing, threatening, and interfering with my private life.”
The court president, Mrs O.E Owoseni, giving her judgment stated that there was no marriage to be dissolved because no customary marriage held between both parties and no bride price was paid. Owoseni gave an order restricting the defendant from harassing, threatening, and interfering with the plaintiff’s private life.
