I want to know what to do with the waist pains which I developed about my last visit to the Gym. I am a 68-year old pensioner.

Waist pain in an elderly man after a gym visit is likely caused by
a muscle strain or ligament sprain due to overexertion or improper form, but it could also be a sign of underlying age-related conditions like osteoarthritis or spinal stenosis made worse by exercise.
Muscle Strains/Ligament Sprains: This is the most common cause of back pain. It can happen from lifting weights that are too heavy, using poor lifting technique (like rounding the back or twisting while lifting), skipping warm-ups, or simply overdoing it.

In older adults, muscles and connective tissues can be weaker and less flexible, increasing the risk of strain. Tight muscles, particularly in the hamstrings and hips, can pull the pelvis out of alignment and put extra strain on the lower back during movements. As the body ages, the healing process slows down.
Not allowing enough rest and recovery time between workouts can lead to accumulated stress and injury. Age is a significant risk factor for certain back conditions that exercise might aggravate: While mild soreness is normal after a workout, certain symptoms require medical attention: Pain that is severe, persistent, or gets worse over several weeks, Pain that radiates down one or both legs, Numbness, tingling, or weakness in the legs or feet.
Loss of bladder or bowel control (a medical emergency) as well as pain following a specific injury.
