My friends have been urging me to start drinking red wine because they claim that it is good for the heart. Kindly let me know if this is true.

The American Heart Association doesn’t recommend drinking any form of alcohol to gain health benefits. Recent research is beginning to coalesce around the idea that light or moderate drinking may not help to prevent heart disease—so much so that the World Heart Federation declared in 2022 that “no level of alcohol is safe” for your heart health.
In addition, it has been confirmed that any alcohol consumption at all had negative effects on brain volume and structure—and that those who binge drink or who are overweight with high blood pressure are more susceptible. If you don’t drink, don’t start. If you do, limit yourself to one drink a day if you’re a woman, or two if you’re a man.
