PRESIDENT of the Muslim Ummah of South West Nigeria (MUSWEN), Alhaji Rasaki Oladejo, has commended the Olowu of Owu and President-General of the Ogun State Muslim Council (OMC), Oba (Prof.) Saka Adelola Matemilola, for attending the General Purpose Committee (GPC) meeting of the organisation.

He gave the commendation in his remarks on Sunday at the GPC meeting of MUSWEN held at its secretariat in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.

Alhaji Oladejo described the meeting as historic, noting that it was the first time a President-General of the Ogun State Muslim Council attended a GPC meeting of MUSWEN.

He recalled that the late Awujale of Ijebuland, Oba Sikiru Adetona, could not attend any of the meetings throughout his tenure as President-General.

He, therefore, on behalf of all members, expressed gratitude to the Olowu of Owu and urged him to sustain the gesture.

In his response, Oba Matemilola commended MUSWEN for championing the cause of Muslims and Islam in the South West and pledged his continued support for the organisation.

The Ogun State Muslim Council, under the leadership of Oba Matemilola, also used the occasion of the GPC meeting to present gifts to the immediate past Executive Secretary of MUSWEN, Professor Muslih Tayo Yahya, in recognition of his recent retirement.
