Barring any last on minute change, the remains of popular actress, Moji Olaiya and her new baby will arrive in Nigeria from Canada on June 6, R has learnt.
R was told that final arrangements to bring her corpse back to Nigeria for proper burial had been concluded with the Canadian government and two members of Olaiya’s family were said to have arrived in Canada to perfect the release of her bodyto them.
Weeks after the death of the actress, which was said to have been occassion duct complications after childbirth, the family and colleagues had struggled to raise about N5 million needed to bring back her corpse to Nigeria and there were fears that she could be interred in Canada even against the wish of her 18-year-old daughter, who insisted her mum’s corpse be brought home.
The quick intervention of a former governor of Lagos State, Bola Tinubu, who was said to have met with the family of Olaiya, was the saving grace for the late actress, who featured in more 100 movies before she died.
According to a statement by the publicity secretary of the burial committee, Yomi Fabiyi and obtained by R on Friday, “Moji Olaiya and her baby daughter will arrive in Nigeria from Canada. We will not like to go into details of the flight itinerary because of the baby involved, only the family and few friends will receive them. Please bear with us.”
A service and artiste night is to hold same day at Blueroof, LTV 8, Agidingbi, Ikeja.
