
Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Malam Muhammad Bello, has solicited the support and partnership of the Federal Capital Territory(FCT) Police Command to check insecurity and vandalism of public assets in the territory.
Bello, who was represented by the Executive Secretary of the Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA), Engineer Umar Jibrin, made the call when he paid a courtesy visit to the new FCT Commissioner of Police, Bala Ciroma.
He expressed serious concern on the high rate of armed robbery and kidnapping on Bwari-Jere-Kaduna highway and the vandalism of street-lights, electricity cables, manholes and outright burning of transformers, just as he sought maximum support from the police boss to stem the tide.

The minister assured him of government’s commitment to the resettlement of some of the original inhabitants at Wasa and Galuwyi/Shere resettlement schemes, adding that the needed infrastructure had been provided in Galuwyi/Shere where the original inhabitants of Jabi –Yakubu would be resettled soon and assured that effective logistics had been put in place for the exercise.
The Police Commissioner, in his remark, commended the FCT administration on its stride in infrastructure development in the territory, saying that there could be no meaningful development without adequate security.
He said that though the safe-guarding of critical government infrastructure belonged to the Nigeria Security Civil Defence Corps, he promised to instruct his men to be vigilant and work out effective collaboration with the Corps in that regard.
He assured the minister that security would be beefed up on the Bwari-Jere-Kaduna highway and solicited assistance from him in the area of mobility and communication equipment.
