The wife of the Ebonyi State Governor, Chief Mary-Maudaline Nwifuru, has urged women not to let marriage and childbearing affect their education for the betterment of society.
Mrs Nwifuru made this statement during a courtesy visit from her university classmates in Mass Communication, 2012, at her office in the Government House Centenary City, Abakaliki.
She also encouraged them to maintain the unity that binds them since school, assuring them that she will make them proud as the first lady of the State.
Furthermore, she urged women to develop psychological resilience to pursue education, emphasizing its role as an empowerment tool for women.
Her words were, “Education is a route towards the actualization of dreams. There will be distractions that can derail you, but stay focused on the goal you intend to reach.”
Expressing happiness over the visit, Mrs. Nwifuru urged her classmates to continue contributing to the growth and development of Ebonyi State.
In his remarks, Mr. James Ajiogu, the leader of the group, explained that their visit aimed to familiarize and show solidarity with the present administration.
He commended the governor’s wife for being a supportive friend to her husband, who, he said, has performed marvelously well in the State since his emergence.
