AHEAD of the March 9 governorship and National Assembly elections, a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Delta State, Chief Sunny Onuesoke, has warned the Federal Government not to accede to calls in some quarters for the militarisation of the Saturday polls.
In an exclusive chat with Tribune Online on Wednesday in Warri, Chief Onuesoke said that the allegation of threats to lives ahead of the polls from militants, according to the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the State, were spurious, adding that militarising Saturday’s polls was against the Electoral Act.
He said there was also no iota of truth in the allegation that market women were being threatened with ejection from their stalls by the state government if they do not vote PDP because the women have enjoyed dividends of democracy from Senator Okowa’s government.

“Okowa or PDP can’t issue such threats to the women, who are his mothers, daughters, sisters and in-laws.
“The governor is performing very well, so they will naturally vote for him,” he enthused.
He, therefore, urged Deltans to come out en mass and vote Senator Okowa for a second term based on his sterling performance as well as other PDP candidates for the House of Assembly come Saturday.
