A Sokoto Chief Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday remanded one Aliyu Yaro in prison for stealing a cellphone and N6,500 cash.
Yaro, 24, who resides in Kofar Atiku Area of Sokoto, pleaded not guilty to a four-count charge of criminal conspiracy, armed robbery, assault and resistance of arrest.
The Chief Magistrate, Nurradeen Bello, remanded Yaro, to enable the police to conclude its investigation.
Earlier, the prosecutor, Insp. Samuel Sule told the court that the case was reported at Kwanni Station by the victim, Hamza Umar of Kofar Kade area of Sokoto on June 21.

He said the accused led a four-man-gang, who forcefully took the complainant to Hubbare area of Sokoto, beat him up and stole his Tecno cell phone valued at N 8,500 and his N6,500.
Sule said the offence contravened Sections 97, 298, 265 and 171 of the Penal Code.
The case was adjourned to July 21 for the mention.
