Perezi alleged that the defendant collected N650,000 from the Complainant, Mr Samson Joseph, under the pretence of wanting to sell a Toyota Camry car to him but disappeared after collecting the money.

‘’The defendant was nowhere to be found and all efforts to locate him failed until he was sighted by the complainant at Iyana Ipaja, Lagos,’’ the prosecutor said.

According to the prosecutor, the offences contravene Sections 287 and 314 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The Magistrate, Mrs Bukola Mogaji, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N150,000 with two sureties in like sum.

Mogaji adjourned the case until Aug. 30 for mention.
