A 22-year-old man, Amos David, on Wednesday appeared before an Ota Magistrates’ Court in Ogun for allegedly stealing a motorcycle valued at N240,000.
The defendant, whose address is not given, is being tried for allegedly stealing a motorcycle.
The Prosecutor, Sgt. Abdulkareem Mustapha told the court that the defendant committed the offence on Feb. 23 at about 2.00 a. m. at Egando Akinbo Community, Ota.
He alleged that the defendant was caught by security guards as he attempted to steal the motorcycle valued at N240,000 with registration number TTD 399 WG belonging to the complainant, John Alibi.

“The defendant was later handed over to the police for further questioning which resulted in bringing him to the court,” he said.
Mustapha said that the offence contravened Section 390 of the Criminal Code, Vol. 1, Laws of Ogun, 2006.
The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty of the charge.
The Chief Magistrate, Mr Mathew Akinyemi, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N200,000 with two sureties in like sum.
Akinyemi ordered that the sureties should reside within the court’s jurisdiction and be gainfully employed with evidence of tax payment to Ogun Government.
He adjourned the case until March 27 for further hearing.
