FORMER national Caretaker Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Alhaji Ahmed Makarfi was in Benue State yesterday where he vowed that PDP would oust the ruling All Progressive Congress from office in 2019.
Makarfi who is a presidential aspirant under PDP said that Buhari led administration has plunged the nation into economic downturn which he said has inflicted pains on the masses.
The former caretaker chairman of PDP stated this during his consultation meeting with the Benue State PDP Working Committee in Makurdi.
He said that PDP remains the only viable party and the instrument to be used to lift Nigerians out of the current shackles of poverty, deceit and unfulfilled promises that APC had inflicted on the nation.
Makarfi said he had chosen Benue to flag -off his presidential consultation tour in order to honour those who were mercilessly killed in the state by armed Fulani herdsmen.
He said if given the mandate he would place more priority on the security of lives and property of Nigerians.
According to him, ‘I am determined to send Buhari and his APC led government parking in 2019. This requires the support and collaboration with party men and women like you who believe in the unity and oneness of Nigeria as a nation.
“I hope that with my vast experience, delegates from Benue will consider me to be the party’s flag bearer in the next year’s general election because l strongly believe that l will defeat Buhari whom having failed to deliver on his campaign promises of protecting lives and property. Buhari and ruling APC only succeeded in deeply inflicting Nigerians with unimaginable poverty, deceit and killings.”
In his remarks, the state chairman of the party, Mr John Ngbede said Markarfi was the reason behind the existence of PDP today in Nigeria, assuring that delegates from Benue state would not hesitate to vote for him.
