A leadership expert and the Founder of GOTNI Leadership Centre, Linus Okorie has been honoured with the 100 Most Notable Peace Icons in Africa award by the Africa Initiative for Global Peace.
According to the Project Director, Africa of the Africa Initiative for Global Peace, Ambassador Kingsley Amafiebe, said Okorie was identified for the award because he has touched lives of the common people.
“He is someone who has impacted the lives of so many and you will understand with me that he is a man of class, a man who has touched the lives of not just the common people, but great leaders across Africa.
“It is with this great pleasure that on behalf of the Africa Initiative for Global Peace, we are recognising you today as an icon of peace, someone who has contributed so much in the areas of employment, leadership.
“On behalf of the organization, we want to congratulate you, and we want you to continue to do more for society, what we are doing here today is something that has been given birth for the past 12 years. We have been able to preach peace, create opportunities for the young people through talent development”, he said.
Furthermore, he said the 100 Most Notable Peace Icons in Africa is offering scholarships to 20,000 children across Africa.
In his response, Okorie said for the past 30 years, he has been committed to building leadership development for the continent and for Nigeria.
He said in order to appreciate the award, he will launch my 100 optimised mentorship program for Nigerians, and also launch leadership program for 100 students from 100 universities in Nigeria.
“When I was contacted for the award, I first thought about it, and I decided to accept because of the person of Ambassador Kingsley, his work for peace and development in Nigeria is quite amazing.
“For the past 30 years of my life, I have been committed to building leadership development for the continent and for Nigeria, invested heavily in the lives of young people, in the lives of professional class, in the lives of those who take decisions on behalf of this country.
“Having done this for all these years, we have hundreds of thousands of people that have benefited from our programs both personally and through radio and televisions, so I felt that having received this honour, I will do three things, first is to appreciate the leadership of 100 most notable peace icons in Africa for finding me worthy of this recognition, second thing I will do is that in appreciation of this recognition, I want to launch my 100 optimised mentorship program for Nigerians.
“I will also launch specifically 100 students from 100 universities in Nigeria that I will give the opportunity so that in their four years in the university, they will understand dynamics of leadership to the highest level, so that these young people can reproduce what I am doing their universities”, he stated.
