Sophia Momodu, the mother of Nigerian singer David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has addressed criticism over why her daughter, Imade, was not present at the music star’s recent birthday celebration, denying claims that she prevented the child from attending.
In a Snapchat post, Sophia explained why she acted the way she did and responded to reports circulating online.
She said her focus is on protecting her daughter and maintaining her privacy, warning people against spreading unverified stories about Imade’s well-being.
“You people have been doing this false narrative thing for over 10 years now. And while I try to be as graceful as I can, I’m also a very protective mother. Say whatever you want about me, it’s ok. But leave my child alone. This is non-negotiable. Imade is not a bargaining chip for her mother to conform.”
In the series of posts made by Sophia, she stated that “my child is an innocent 10yrs old. A pre teen, She hasn’t even started figuring things out yet! She’s literally still a baby!, moving forward if anyone blogs or whoever brings my daughter’s name in any negative light you will be hearing from her lawyers. I have completely removed myself from the Equation! My daughter will thrive in peace! However, I will forever stand up for my child even if nobody does!”

Sophia added that she is ready to take legal action against those posting false information about her child.
“I honestly cannot wait to use one of you as a scapegoat. Let’s finish 2025 in grand style since you people don’t have sense and don’t feel somehow when you’re attacking an innocent 10 year old child, all in a bid to get her mother to conform and for engagement, It will never happen move On”.
The issue came up after Imade was absent from Davido’s 33rd birthday event, held in Atlanta with family and friends, including his daughter Hailey.
