OUR lawmakers need divine intervention so as not to twist the laws of the country to their interest and abandon nation building.
Reverend Canon Kolawole Jaiyeoba rendered this view as homilist at the 104th Founder’s Day and re-union of Ibadan Grammar School Old Students’ Association held on Friday, at the school premises.
Jaiyeoba who noted the need for the image of the country to be rebuilt, prayed that the nation be blessed with good leadership that would translate into good governance.
He urged Nigerians not to relent in praying for God’s mercy upon the nation’s leaders for the country to sail through all odds and challenges.
Noting the recent certificate saga involving Senator Dino Melaye, he bemoaned that the country expends time on frivolous issues.
“Our lawmakers, politicians need divine intervention so as not to twist the laws of the nation. We have abandoned the way of good governance. Leadership matters a lot hence they should face the duty of nation building and not waste time on frivolous issues. The image of the nation must be rebuilt. How would you waste time on ascertaining school certificates when you can easily verify from the school, ask the person to disclose his admission number and some other details or peculiarities about the school he attended?” Jaiyeoba said.
At the event which had in old students attended, Jaiyeoba averred that the school had continued to abide by principles and legacies laid down by its founder, Rt. Reverend A. A. Akinyele.
