The newly inaugurated governing council of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH) Ogbomoso, on Monday, had its inaugural meeting to visualise plans to resuscitate activities at the university.
Pro-Chancellor and Chairman, Governing Council of the institution, Professor Oladapo Afolabi, who spoke with Tribune Online, after the meeting, said the new council had identified the problems bedevilling the institution and had marshalled plans to ensure that the university is reopened in no distant time.
Specifically, he said the auditing firm, KPMG, was expected to submit its report to the governing council, on Friday, from which it would derive a report to be submitted to the visitors of the University for Implementation.
He expressed optimism that the submission of the report would go a long way to providing a lasting solution to the problems of LAUTECH.
Prior to the inaugural meeting, the governing council had met with various stakeholders and members of the university community like the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) among other staff unions and the students’ union.
LAUTECH’s Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Adeniyi Gbadegesin and other principal officers of the University as well as members of the Governing Council including Prof Lai Olurode, were present at the press conference.
