The atmosphere at the Bogobiri event centre in Ikoyi, Lagos State, was captivating as dancer and musician, Latoya Aduke thrilled guests with her performance.
Latoya and her seven-man band all the way from Ijebu-Ijesha came to Lagos for a musical performance tagged ‘Latoya Aduke Live at Bogobiri’.
Before she was introduced by veteran artiste and Fela Kuti’s pianist, Duro Ikujenyo, Sinmi Jay, a fast-rising musician wowed the audience with his three-man band called Gbadun Band who thrilled the audience with songs on Lagos life and its challenges.
Latoya, an American, felt at home with Nigerian music. She noted that she had been living in Nigeria for 21 years.
She sang popular song, ‘E je ka re ‘le’ meaning ‘let us go home’ emphasising the need for one to be close to his or her source.
‘Ise owo’ and ‘Ololufe’ were songs that also delighted the audience as Megan Maria, a clothier and other white women danced to the music.
Also at the event, iconic musician, Orlando Julius, entertained the audience.
The atmosphere revved as O.J joined in the music as beautiful rendition blared out from his tenor saxophone.
