Worried by the devastating effects of the Lassa Fever outbreak in the state which has claimed no fewer than 20 lives including a traditional ruler and four health personnel, Bauchi State Government has developed an action plan to fight the scourge and stop it from spreading.
Consequently, the state governor, Sen Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed Tuesday chaired a state meeting on “Action Initiative Against Lassa Fever” with a constitution of a technical committee on how effective to approach the situation.
During the meeting which was held at the council chambers, Government House Bauchi, Bala Mohammed pledged to take collective and concerted efforts at tackling the spread of the disease in the state.

The governor also said that already he has sought for the support of stakeholders from the federal government related agencies with a view to ensure quick response to the current outbreak of the disease in the state.
Bala Mohammed said, ” This meeting is to show you that the leadership is concerned about the current outbreak of Lassa fever in our state. As a government, we are ready to work with you as experts for us to come up with an action plan that will solve the situation”.
The governor further said that based on his consultations with health experts, it was revealed to him that education and environmental sanitation are some of the strategic mechanisms in controlling the outbreak.
