Governor Simon Lalong of Plateau State has expressed disappointment over the manner his predecessor spent billions of naira on security while neglecting the state civil servants.
The Governor, who stated this when the Judicial Commission of Inquiry set up to look into governmental activities between 2007 to 2015 submitted its report on Monday, said he was surprised that billions of naira could be expended on security while other critical sectors were neglected.
“Based on the sittings of the commission I monitored, it is quite unfortunate that billions of naira was spent on security and civil servants were denied their salaries. This is quite unfortunate,” he said.
Governor Lalong emphasised that the commission was not established as a witch-hunt committee for persecution of perceived opponents, but as a committee for stewardship and accountability.
