The Lagos State Traffic Management Agency (LASTLASTMA) has urged motorists plying the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway to remain orderly while the rehabilitation of the Berger to Ogun River section of the road lasts.
Speaking to newsmen at the point of diversion on Monday, Area Commander of LASTMA, Ogudu, Mr. Jubril Oshodi also warned of likely spillover into adjoining roads within Lagos.
According to Ojudu, “All the necessary workplan for us to be able to undertake this assignment has been put in place, and we are fully ready.
“What we have always appealed to the motoring public is to maintain orderliness and cooperate with our officials. Once we have that, we can assure the motoring public of steady flow of traffic, although at a slow pace due to the ongoing rehabilitation works.
“Under any circumstances should the motoring public try to do anything that could constrain us, like attempting to take one way. These could have negative impact on other innocent road users along the road.
“In addition to this, we know that there will be likely spillover of traffic into adjoining roads that are linking the expressway. So in-view of this, we have mobilised reinforcement from other zones to be able to fortify these adjoining roads so that we can be on top of the situation always.”
