The Kogi State governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello and the South Korean Ambassador to Nigeria, Major-General Lee In-Tae, have pledged to collaborate for the development of the state.
The two leaders on Wednesday said they were ready to foster stronger ties with the state government in the areas of technical and vocational education.
The Chief Press Secretary (CPS)Â to the Governor, Muhammed Onogwu, in a statement said the two parties were to conduct an assessment for the formulation of possible follow-up support to the Nigeria-Korea Friendship Institute of Vocational and Advanced Technology, which was situated in Lokoja.

He added that the South Korean Ambassador pledged to facilitate the internship of students from the institution in top South Korean Companies like DAEWOO, KIA Motors, Samsung and LG electronics companies.
He noted that the Ambassador also promised that his government would assist Kogi Government in providing allowances for both the teachers and students of the institution, affirming that they were looking for ways to expand the school in terms of enrollment and infrastructure.
The CPS stated that Bello commended the government of South Korea, assuring that his government’s commitment to the partnership.
Bello also pledged more commitment to vocational and technical education, stating that relevant legislations which would enhance possible follow-ups in support of the Nigeria – Korea institute of Vocational and advanced technology would soon be formulated.
Members of the Ambassador’s entourage included Major-General Lee In-Tae had in his delegation Woochan Chang, Country Director, Country Deputy Director Wonjun Bae, Programme Specialist David Nkwa, Lee Young Geol from Daelim University who is the Project Manager.
Others were Professor Jin Kyung Lee of Dongeui University, Professor Joong Seon Lim of Dongeui University, and Hee Chul Han of Daelim University.
