THE Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kogi state, on Monday, blamed the Kogi State government and the state police command over the invasion of the residence of a former governor of the state, Alhaji Ibrahim Idris, by masked policemen last week.
The PDP presidential campaign council also said the Commissioner of Police, Hakeem Busari, have questions to answer over the invasion on the eve of the botched Presidential and National Assembly Election by over 300 fake policemen and soldiers, who were allegedly given cover by some identified men of the Special Anti Robbery Squad (SARS).
A statement by the spokesperson of the council, Austin Okai, wondered how such number of allegedly fake police and soldiers would besiege the residence of a former and yet got away with it without the knowledge of the police and the state government.
The PDP PCC said it is most worrisome that information available to it said the fake police and soldiers were mobilised from the government house and when it became obvious that their identity and mission was known to the Command Army Records Lokoja, the same persons disappeared through the government house.
The council, however, called on the Kogi state government to make public its motives for deploying such huge number of miscreants, governance thugs wearing police and army uniforms to besiege the house of a former governor and where the PDP leaders were holding their meeting.

“The Commissioner of Police also need to come out clean to tell the whole world the truth and nothing but the truth that his men who provided cover for the fake personnel were not acting under his command to inflict injuries, and in worst case scenario assassinate the members of the opposition.
“This cry has become necessary in view of the high level of alleged government politically masterminded killings and intimidation ongoing in the state.
“We wish to also draw the attention of the world to the fact that some time ago, there was an interception of imported arms by the Kogi state government, a matter that was swept under the carpet which should be revisited because the number of arms allegedly in the hands of government-sponsored political thugs is alarming.
“One is not stating the outrageous if women in the central of Kogi state in the last two days have been protesting what they called the need for the governor to help retrieve the heavy presence of arms in the hands of government-sponsored political thugs.
“The PDP PCC makes this outcry as it is becoming pertinent to do so in view of the forthcoming presidential and national assembly elections which is few days ahead. Furthermore, this call is of importance because the present administration in the state having been rejected following its woeful performance has since shown desperation and has gone haywire to the point of intimidating, harassing and allegedly sponsoring thugs against the opposition.”
The party, however, called on the international community, the National Peace Committee, the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, the acting Inspector General of Police to initiate a probe into the besieging of the house of Idris, when the PDP leaders were holding a meeting by over 300 alleged fake security personnel under the cover of some policemen attached to the Kogi state government house.
But the state government, through the Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Mohammed Onogwu, said the allegations were baseless and unfounded.
He said the PDP was only crying foul because it had been rejected by the people of the state, who were satisfied with the performance of the state governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello.
