A pan-Kogi pressure group, Hope Kogi Development Initiative (HKDI), has declared their support for Hon Murtala Yakubu Ajaka, the Deputy publicity secretary of the ruling All Progressive Party (APC) to succeed Governor Yahaya Bello after the expiration of his second term in office.
The group disclosed this during a press conference in Abuja and addressed by its Coordinator Comrade Ajodo Monday Ojotule Damian.
According to the coordinator, the APC Chieftain is competent and qualified, adding that its members across the state have benefited from Ajaka’s generosity and patronage.
The group stressed that a statement by Governor Bello declaring that he has no anointed candidate was impressive, adding that the assurance was the basis of which Kogi people would pressurise the party’s delegates to vote for Ajaka during the governorship primary in the state.
Continuing, Monday Domian described the APC deputy publicity secretary as a candidate which the people of the state cannot regret if elected to succeed Governor Bello.
“We are aware that pressures from different quarters within and outside the state are mounting on the governor to pick someone from the central or west senatorial zone to succeed him but that he is still weighing the options,” he said.
Speaking further, the group coordinator urged the delegates of the ruling APC to consider Ajaka, who he described as a philanthropist, to secure the governorship ticket as its standard-bearer at the November gubernatorial election in the state.
Monday Domian added by describing Ajaka as an experienced politician and detribalised Nigerian who, he said, has employed hundreds of youths to earn a living through his private ventures as a public relation consultant.
“We strongly believe that Muri’s unique selling point is his accessibility, humility and generosity,” adding that the people of Kogi state should support him to win the next governorship election.
