Ekunjesu, who made this known in a message delivered at the church, blamed the attacks on insincerity and selfishness of Nigerian leaders.
“The leaders are unfaithful to their Creator and untruthful to the citizens, and as such, AK-47-wielding herdsmen may not be tamed as those who make laws also break the laws.
“Anyone found guilty of trespassing or encroaching on people’s farms should be made to face the long arm of the law. Conversely, promulgation of laws will deter marauding headsmen, who are fond of invading/attacking farmers and innocent villagers in their domais,” he stated.
He noted that laws were meant to be kept, obeyed and, as such, cattle herdsmen were not exempted from such laws.
“Cattle rearing is a personal business, and government should not be involved in it at all. Federal and states governments should make laws that will discourage herdsmen from grazing or encroaching on people’s land,” he stated.
Speaking on the protracted fuel scarcity, he urged the Federal Government to “assist petroleum marketers and to also check the activities of the cabal within the ranks. The government should provide jobs in the country, and revisit obnoxious economic policy.
“Christian leaders should preach massages of salvation that will shape the orientation of the youths in their churches in the land to reflect what it is stated in Romans 12:2. The idea of preaching prosperity should be discarded to discourage immorality,” he stated.
