The special adviser to Kano State governor on health services, Dr Fauziyya Buba Idris has stated the Ganduje led administration’s commitment to the fight against drug abuse and other societal vices.
Fauziyya disclosed this at a one-day sensitisation meeting with Guidance and Counseling mentors from Kano State tertiary institutions.
She noted that the mentors from tertiary institutions were invited to training, on how to monitor and counsel their students in order to curtail the menace of drug abuse.
She further disclosed that anti-drug ambassadors and mental health committees would commence advocacy visits to all tertiary institutions to enlighten students about the dangers of drug abuse, which is one of the major catalysts to societal crimes.
However, the special adviser on health services, who doubles as the chairperson of female anti-drug ambassadors explained that the Governor Ganduje-led administration has recorded remarkable success in the fight against drug peddling and abuse.
She further described Kano as the first to constitute committees on drug abuse and mental health to promote the health of its citizens.
Alhaji Ibrahim Yahya and Hajia Aminat Shehu from Kano State College of Education and preliminary studies, and Aminu Kano College of Islamic and legal studies, who are parts of the participants described the meeting as important and timely.
