DESPITE court interim court injunction restraining the Kano state governor Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, from inaugurating the Kano state council of Chief, the state government the Kano state has directed the Commissioner of Works and Infrastructural Development, Eng. Mu’azu Magaji, to renovate the historic office of the Council of Emirs, Gidan Shettima, situated within the vicinity of the Kano Emir’s Palace immediately.
The renovation was in preparation for the full take-off of the Kano Council of Chiefs.
According to a statement signed by Comrade Abba Anwar, the Chief Press Secretary to governor Ganduje and a copy made available on Thursday to Journalists in Kano.

A statement issued by Chief Press Secretary to the Governor Ganduje said with this directive, it shows that the inauguration of the Council of Chief is in sight, with assigned full responsibilities as provided by the Law establishing the body, among others.
However, the statement said the Governor directed the Commissioner to ensure speedy renovation work to take place at Gidan Shettima, where an assessment of renovation requirements have already started at the Ministry.
