Jigawa: Philanthropist builds, renovates hostels at FGC Kiyawa

A philanthropist, Dr. Halima Sulaiman Zakari, has constructed a new hostel block and renovated two existing male hostel blocks at the Federal Government College (FGC) Kiyawa in Jigawa State.

The projects, valued at over ₦120 million, were commissioned by Governor Malam Umar Namadi.

Speaking with newsmen after the commissioning, Dr. Zakari said she was compelled to act after visiting the school in May 2025 and finding the infrastructure in poor condition.

She explained that the intervention was driven by gratitude and a desire to give back to society.

“I believe there is nothing wrong in giving back to humanity and to the community that shaped who I am today,” she said.

Dr. Zakari noted that the new construction and renovations were fully funded from her personal resources.

On the political front, she expressed confidence in the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the 2027 general elections, declaring support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Umar Namadi.

She said the performance of both leaders has positioned the APC for an easy victory in 2027.

According to her, the Renewed Hope Agenda at the national level and Governor Namadi’s 12-point agenda in Jigawa State have earned the party widespread goodwill.

“As far as I’m concerned, APC is doing very well in Jigawa and across Nigeria. The foresight, boldness and experience of President Tinubu in implementing the Renewed Hope Agenda are clearly visible,” she said.

She added that Governor Namadi’s “love for the common man” is reflected in the implementation of his developmental plan.

Dr. Zakari stated that “Wherever you go, you can attest to their work and commitment to serving the people. Their performance has made it clear that they are chief servants. I believe 2027 is going to be an easy ride because they are delivering on the mandate they were elected for.”
