Jigawa govt establishes 117 Day schools, deboarded 1,000 students to prevent abduction

AS part of the Jigawa State government’s efforts to effect maximum safety and security to students, the government has established 117 Day Secondary Schools and deboarded thousands of boarding students.

This was disclosed by the state’s commissioner of Education Science and Technology, Dr Lawan Yunusu Danzomo while fielding questions from journalists in Dutse, the state capital, reiterating “as part of government commitment to preventing bad experience in the other state of massive kidnapping in the boarding schools, we have established 117 Governmentment Day Senior Schools and deboarded thousands of boarding students.”

Dr Lawan Yunusu Danzomo explained that the idea is to frustrate any plan and attempt by the criminals who abduct school children.

“We have also established three mega schools which will contain both males and females and all subjects would be taught there.”

According to him, “the governor expended over N20 billion for provision of educational infrastructure in over 3,000 state-owned schools with more than 1.5 million students enrolment.

The commissioner stated also that, the present administration so far has achieved the maximum percentage for schools’ upgrading with all basic teaching and learning facilities.

Danzomo maintained that over 30,000 out-of-school adults were enrolled into 81 centres in agencies for mass education provided by the state government across 27 local governments.

He continued that the present administration has also established 164 adult nomadic crisis resolution centres with aims to sensitize nomadic against conflict in the communities.

The commissioner then commended Governor Badaru for his political will on the better provision of qualitative education in the state.

While delivering his remarks, the chairman, Jigawa State correspondent chapel, Comrade Muhammad Zangina Kura, commended the commissioner for honouring the invitation.
