JIGAWA state executive council approved the construction of 110 pumps and 24 water collection points to ensure available and accessible clean drinking water in the rural areas.
The state commissioner for Information Youth sport and culture, Alhaji Bala Ibrahim disclosed while speaking newsmen in Dutse yesterday, said the project to cost the sum of N119,216,536.00 for the execution of water projects in some communities across the state.
According to the Commissioner the decision was taken in the state executives council meeting presided over by governor Muhammadu Badaru Abubakar.
Alhaji Bala Ibrahim explained that the state commissioner of Water Resource, Alhaji Ibrahim Garba Hannungiwa earlier presented a memo with regard to the project and the council members deliberated and agreed on the execution of the projects.
He maintained that “project include the construction of 110 pumps and 24 water collection points to ensure available and accessible clean drinking water to the beneficiaries communities”.
Alhaji Bala Ibrahim further that, the state government under the leadership of governor Muhammad Badaru Abubakar has given much priority to the provision of potable clean water for the improvement of health and social condition of the state teeming populace.
The commissioner added that the state government is targeted to ensure 90 to 100 percent of the state population has access to clean drinking water before 2019.
“We are also ready to collaborate with donor partners, federal government, individual and other organization in achieving the desire goals” he said.
