JAMB score controversy: I’m not capable of forging JAMB result — Mmesoma

Ejikeme Mmesoma, the Anambra candidate in the eye of the storm, has dismissed the allegation of forgery of the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) result levelled against her by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), insisting that she printed her result from the JAMB portal.

Mmesoma, a student of Anglican Girls Secondary School, Nnewi, Anambra State, who took to social media to defend herself on Monday, said she was not capable of forging JAMB results.

Mmesoma, who claimed to have scored 362 in the 2023 UTME, was recently celebrated and awarded an N3 million scholarship by Innocent Chukwuma, Chairman of Innoson Vehicles Manufacturing Company.

But JAMB, in a statement on Sunday by the Head of Public Affairs and Protocol, Dr Fabian Benjamin, said the result being paraded by Mmesoma, making her the highest scorer in the 2023 UTME, was manipulated and that her actual score was 249.

Benjamin subsequently announced that the result would be withdrawn while Mmesoma would face prosecution.

However, speaking on Monday, the student said she printed her result from the JAMB portal, adding that she was not capable of forging her result.

While displaying the result, she said: “My name is Mmesoma. I’m the owner of this result. I went to JAMB portal to print this result, and this is what they gave me. This aggregate of 362 is exactly how I printed. But they are now saying that I forged the result of which I don’t know”.

Mmesoma, however, was invited to the JAMB office, and when the result was scanned, it showed another name, a Yoruba Name Omotola, saying beloved that something was actually wrong.

According to her, she had always been a brilliant pupil who had secured first position in primary school days.

Mmesoma said she was invited to the police station where her statement was taken, and she was told that the investigation was ongoing.

She said she felt traumatised by the incident, adding that “there must be a problem somewhere.”
