This is not necessarily due to dementia. Dehydration, infections, medications, metabolic imbalances and other psychological factors can also cause confusion.
As we get older, our brain just doesn’t work as well in general – there is a decrease in the volume of the brain and a decrease in the density of neuronal connections in the brain. These are not diseases. This is normal age related mental decline.
