I want to know if doctors are allowed to terminate the life of any patient whose condition is hopeless and is suffering terribly from the disease? I have an elderly female relative who has terminal breast cancer and has been in severe pains for more than three months.

A deliberate action by a doctor to end the life of a patient in order to relieve persistent suffering is called ‘Euthanasia’. Euthanasia has for a long time been a controversial and emotive topic. While the act is legal and permissible in some countries as well as some states in the United States, it is still a crime and may carry a jail sentence in many countries including Nigeria.
