The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Sunday declared the governorship candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) for Lagos State, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu, winner of the governorship election that held throughout the state on Saturday, having polled a total of 739,445 votes.
Chief collation officer for the state, Eyitope Ogunmodede, made the announcement at the state INEC office in Yaba, saying Sanwo-Olu scored the total votes to defeat his closest rival and candidate of the main opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Mr Jimi Agbaje who polled 206,141.
Ogunmodede, who is the Vice-versa Chancellor, Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile- Ife, further announced that 998,715 votes were cast, with a total of 21,339 recorded as invalid votes.
