Students of Taraba state College of Education Zing, on Wednesday, staged a campaign against social vices amongst students in the higher institutions of learning in the country.
Mr. Charles Ignatius, a 200 level student from the English department who lead the campaign disclosed that, the idea became necessary as most Nigeria students in the higher institutions have forgotten the purpose they were admitted.
According to him, the campaign was to discourage Nigeria students from social vices like, cultism, drug abuse, indecent dressings and many others that normally result to societal nuisance.
“Our drama presentation at this college matriculation today is a discouragement and a campaign against community violence that usually emanate from students studying at high institutions of learning in Nigeria.
“We have decided to rollout the campaign because the upcoming students are gradually becoming overwhelmed with the practice and need to be tackle at It early stage” The students campaign leader expressed.
Earlier, Dr. Mike Dio Jen, provost of the college who was represented by the deputy provost, Dr. Phillip Nuhu while matriculating over 1300 students for the 2021/2022 Academic session, disclosed that the institution was zero tolerance for social vices, advice the matriculating students to stay clear from act of gangstarlism that may lead them to trouble.
The provost commended Taraba state government through the ministry of tertiary education for her efforts to ensuring the institution reach the desired standard of Academic performance.
