Ikpeazu promises less work for successor

Governor Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia State has assured that no road done by his administration would be revisited by his successor.

Ikpeazu handed down this assurance while commissioning the newly reconstructed Immaculate Heart Avenue done by his administration in Aba, promising also to complete all ongoing projects before he leaves office in 2023.

According to the governor, who was also in the continuation of his “Kinetic Abia Inspection and commissioning programme, the roads were done with rigid pavement technology.”

Ikpeazu further promised to complete the Osisioma flyover, Eziukwu, Omuma, Ngwa Roads and other strategic projects embarked upon by his administration before the end of his tenure.

Ikpeazu described as wrong, to build roads without drainages, assuring that the Immaculate Heart Avenue Road which was constructed with rigid pavement technology had a life span of not less than 25 years and promised to continue to work selflessly for Abia people until he leaves office.

He thanked the Speaker and members of the Abia State House of Assembly for being key players in the success of his administration, adding “I want to ask them to continue to support us because the power we hold is in trust for the people and the essence of government is to do that which will lead to better life for the people.”

Speaking, the Deputy Governor, Sir Ude Oko Chukwu, noted the road as very critical to the residents of the area in particular and the people of Aba in general, adding that the continuous commissioning of roads by the present administration was a proof that the administration had fulfilled its campaign promises. 

According to the Speaker, Abia State House of Assembly, Chief Chinedum Orji, Chairman, House Committee on Works, Ginger Onwusibe and other members, based on the achievements of the governor, they would to do everything within their powers to assist the governor to do more of such roads for the people.

To the Commissioner for Works, Elder Bob Ogu, the road is very important to the economic growth of the area and the state, adding that street lights would be installed soonest while the road would connect the Ogbor Hill area of Aba.

Conveying the gratitude of his people in an address he presented on behalf of the Chairman, Osisiọma Ngwa LGA, Christian Kamalu, the Deputy Chairman,  Uchenna Jumbo thanked the Governor for the show of love to the people and said they would not take it for granted.

Other stakeholders in the state thanked the governor and noted that the development would help to checkmate the activities of hoodlums in the area as security agents could now patrol the vicinity seamlessly.
