He further said that, “the community has objectives, one of which is to foster understanding and unity among the members, to protect and defend the members and to assist any member when the need arises for genuine reasons. We will continue with it and improve on it.”
The president also said, “first and foremost, as a community, we know the principle of living together, we have to adhere to it and keep helping each other to maintain it, we will preach the gospel of peace all the time and the foundation of peace is justice and religious tolerance, we will encourage that, work with those whose duty is to ensure justice and fairness so that peace can be sustained and continue to reign.”
On Insecurity in the country, the ICDA President stressed that what is needed is an awareness campaign, a massive awareness campaign to know the need and benefits of peace and peaceful co-existence which is the major thing.
According to him, “when the people know the value of living peacefully, things will get better. ICDA will make efforts and when other individuals make efforts, it will have a multiplying effect of bringing about an atmosphere of peaceful coexistence,.
On the relationship between the ICDA and its host community in Bauchi, Sunday Uchola said that “A tree that has shade will always attract people to sit under it. Because Bauchi is peaceful, we are enjoying our sojourn in it. We are most grateful to the Government of Bauchi State, the governor and all the people of the state for having a peaceful environment and harbouring all of us from different places, we are praying that this peace will be sustained .”
Speaking during the meeting, the Onu Igala of Bauchi State, Alh Inuwa K. Ibara, said that, “My advice to the new President is simple, I am advising him to look at what the immediate past EXCO has done and continue from there, luckily I noticed that he had worked with the past EXCO for many years and having done that he must have garnered experience, so, I do not have doubt in my mind that he will be able to succeed.”
He also said that, “He should look at the good things that the former EXCO has done and work on it and look at the few that are not good for the interest of the community and correct it in order to move the association forward.”
According to the traditional ruler, “I have been in Bauchi state for over 40 years now, and I can say that things are changing now, when I came to Bauchi there was nothing like differences in relationships with each other but now that people are after monetary gains, things have changed negatively but my advice is that we should learn how to live together, work together because we are all one, the tribe is only to differentiate where we come from”.
He added that, “we are all from the same source, if you look at the root, you will discover that we are all the same. I am calling on all of us to join hands together to move the country forward positively for the good of the people.”
Inuwa Ibara further said that “We are facing the issue of unemployment as a community, previously people got employment with the government without any stress but that is no longer there, so, my call to my people here in Bauchi is to focus more on entrepreneurship so that we can assist ourselves because depending on the government alone will not help us because government alone cannot employ everybody.”
