Ibada-Elume community embarks on grading of roads

Grading and reopening of earth roads in Ibada-Elume community in the Sapele Local Government Area of Delta State has commenced.

The initiative, which is being undertaken by the community, has brought relief to residents who have suffered from a deplorable road network for long.

The roads so far graded include Osita road linking Eku road; Community road, Ogamagbe road connecting NDDC road in Sapele, Health Centre road and Community townhall road, among others.

Speaking, the community chairman, Mr Friday Omerhiowan and other executive members said that the community decided to take the challenge in its own hands in order that residents can access their homes and farmlands.

“We are committed to ensuring that our people have access to good roads, healthcare, education and other basic amenities,” he said.

Omerhiowan, therefore, called on Delta State governor, Sheriff Oborevwori to intervene and assist in the construction of various roads in the community.

A resident, Mr.Bright Omene, expressed surprise and delight at seeing the excavator grading the roads. “The roads were very narrow and difficult to pass, especially during the rainy season. We are grateful to the Friday Omerhiowan-led exco for this job. We now have easy access to our homes and farmlands,” he said.

Another resident, Sunday Onogbedefe, praised the community executive for the project. “We are all happy about it. The whole place look bright and smooth for easy access. We don’t want this project to end like this. We are pleading with our award-winning governor, Mr Oborevwori, and the chairman of Sapele Local Government Area, Bright Abeke, to help construct the various graded roads in the Ibada-Elume community.

“The community, led by Mr. Omerhiowan has demonstrated its commitment to development and the wellbeing of its residents,” he said.
