THE Institute of Agricultural Research and Training (IAR&T), Moor Plantation, Ibadan, an offshoot of the Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife, has appointed Professor Veronica Obatolu, as Director for a three-year tenure.
Obatolu’s appointment which took effect from May 20, 2019, was approved by the Vice-Chancellor, Obafemi Awolowo University, Professor Eyitayo Ogunmodede, who also doubles as the Chairman, Governing Board of the institute.

Professor Obatolu, who is the first female Director of IAR&T since its inception in 1969, began her career at IAR&T in March, 1994 as a Research Fellow II and rose through the ranks to Research Professor on October 1, 2006.
Veronica Obatolu, is a professor of of Human Nutrition and alumnus of Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, as well as the University of Ibadan. She has to her credit, post doctoral award of United States National Maine Fisheries Services (2002-2003) and Phi Tau Sigma award Department of Food Science and Nutritio, University of Maine, Orono, U.S.A.
The IAR&T new Director was lead investigator to many research grants and awards among which are: IDRC Soybean Utilisation Project, Delphic project 643 and (Delphie Project 758, OFID U.K) as a stimulus in urban planning in developing cities.
She is a member of the British Nutrition Society, U.K, Association of American Cereal Chemists, The Nutrition Society of Nigeria Soybean Association.
Professor Obatolu, a renown Professpr of Human Nutrition has contributed significally to alleviating food and nutrition insecurity in Nigeria and beyond. She has over 70 publications to her credit.
