Being a stand-up comedian and MC, how has the journey been so far?
Well, I must bless God in every situation, I wouldn’t say It has been smooth but at least God has been faithful. It has been a long time coming.
Your mentors?
The thing is I don’t look up to comedians alone, I also look up to musicians, pastors, etc. My international mentor is Dave Chappel. My mentors in Nigeria are Bovi, Owen G, Frank Donga and my pastoral mentor is Prophet Gbemiga Adetuberu. As for music, it is 2Baba.
What could you have become, if not a comedian?
One thing not everyone knows about me is that I sing and drum so well. I don’t mean local skin drums o! I mean professional drumsets. So, basically, I would’ve been a professional drummer.
Did you get support from family when you ventured into comedy?
Yes. My family has always been my number one set of fans from the day I started the job. A big shout-out to my mothers and father.
A day you would never forget?
The day I performed on stage and over five thousand audience were present. That day, nobody even wore a smile, not even a single laugh was donated to me. This was six years ago though and I have grown since then.
Do you have any upcoming plans or projects?
I plan to surprise Ibadan with my major comedy show on Sunday tagged ‘Anointed Mallam Live (My family and I). History will definitely be made as it is the first of its kind of comedy shows in the city.
Any plans of quitting comedy in the nearest future?
Never! Comedy has been the best thing to ever happen to me. It has pushed me out of my comfort zone; without comedy, I wouldn’t ever have performed in Dubai and Amsterdam….The world awaits me.

Tiwa Savage and Seyi Awolowo
What inspires you?
God inspires me, nothing else. He’s been my source of joy and my legal plug.
Advice to up and coming comedians…
Keep doing what you’re doing. Keeping it real should be your aim. Be original, spontaneous and remember that the world awaits you.
