Afrobeats singer Oyinkansola Sarah Aderibigbe, popularly known as Ayra Starr, has revealed that she recently underwent major surgery, saying her recovery has been more difficult than initially anticipated.

The Grammy-nominated artiste shared the update with her fans in a post on her Instagram Story on Thursday, where she apologised for her limited activity on social media and explained the reason for her absence.

“Hey Mobstarrs, I’m sorry you’re not seeing as much of me as I would like. I had major surgery a few days ago. I was hoping it would be a quick recovery but it was more complicated than they expected,” she wrote.

The 24-year-old singer did not disclose the medical condition that led to the surgery or provide additional details about her health.

She, however, assured her supporters that she is recovering and expects to return after taking some time to rest.

“I just need a bit of rest and I’ll be back!!!” she added.

Ayra Starr also called on fans to support her upcoming project, Starrgirl, urging them to help create awareness and pre-order the release.

“Starrgirl is coming so soooon. I need everyone out there spreading the word. Tell your friends, your family, your neighbours! Order Starrgirl ASAP!!! Love you guys.”
