One of the PDP Presidential aspirants, Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike says that he has what it takes to chase the APC-led government in Nigeria out of power and therefore solicited the votes of Adamawa State delegates to be able to achieve this.
Nyesom Wike stressed that if PDP fails to give the ticket to the right person which is him, the party will never win again because this is the chance the party needs to return to power.
He stated this at the government house, Yola when he took his campaign train to canvas for votes from Adamawa State delegates in the forthcoming PDP National delegates conference.
The Rivers State governor said, “I am here to solicit your votes, I know our father, your son, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar is also seeking your votes but I appeal to you to give me 50% of the votes, even if I fail to win your votes because of our father and leader, I will understand because I cannot come to our leaders home and win him.”
“I must tell you if I or Atiku gets the ticket, it is a win for us but because I know that I have the capacity and fearlessness to tackle the bad leadership of the APC, I need your votes,” he said.
The Rivers Governor added that “We will chase APC if we get it right and I am the right man to do the job.”
Earlier, the leader of Wike’s presidential aspiration, Dr Hassan Dankwabo had told the delegates that Wike has what it takes to wrestle power from APC.
He said, “Give him your votes because he is a unifier and has brought hope to the party when all hope was lost, he stood for the party when the party was in turmoil.”
The former governor of Gombe State urged the delegates from Adamawa to put sentiment aside and vote for Wike.
In his response to governor Wike’s request, the PDP state chairman, Barrister AT Shehu while commending his courage and tenacity in ensuring the PDP remain one and strong, stated “Adamawa State delegates’ votes are for Atiku Abubakar.”
AT Shehu urged Wike to support Atiku if he wins the ticket but added “if any of the two, Atiku or Wike, the party will take power from APC because they have what it takes to win APC.”
