In the last couple of days, a group known as AB, made up of two brothers, Bionic, born Andrew Omokhudu and Apex, Daniel Omokhudu, have taken over the airwaves with their collaboration with legendary hip hop singer, 2Face, entitled: For Your Matter. For the budding singers, working with the African Queen star has been one of the defining moments of their career and have also submitted that it was not only a musical experience but also a life-changing one as they learnt a big lesson working with him.
‘’Best moments so far in music was recording with 2face it was a night of lots of knowledge and excitement. It was a memorable experience,’ they recalled.
‘2Baba is a legend, not just in music but in his character. He is always a positive influence with the way he relates and his free spirited aura. You cannot help not to be influenced by him by the way he gives out key secrets on life and how to succeed in the entertainment world without even necessarily intending to. So, I will say he always gives us advice any time we spend time together. From his character, we have learnt humility. For our career, I will say his influence has opened a door to a new solid stand in the industry and has marked the start of a beautiful new era, with AB coming back strong to take over the industry,’ said Bionic, the older of the two brothers.
The AB are not exactly greenhorns in the music industry, they started music in 2010 and released their debut single in 2014 titled Tell Them and followed it up with another one in 2015 entitled Oshere. In 2016 the group went for the broke with their EP, a 10-track project tagged Nothing to Something. The EP boasts of songs like Mayan, Call Me, Touch your Toes, Get Down, featuring Uhuru and DJ Maphorisa, New Money, Inject You, Ojoro, Eledumare and Back Then, featuring Choco Jay.
“Best moments so far in music was recording with 2face it was a night of lots of knowledge and excitement. It was a memorable experience,“ they recalled.
Speaking about their music and why they have decided to stick together instead of going their separate ways, they said: ‘Music is a hobby and it’s the only way we know how to express our true feelings and experiences. So when we had to choose a career path, we couldn’t stand the idea of working under someone, plus we find it easier to talk in music and express through music. It’s like a language for us.
“Apex is the dopest artist I have ever seen and he also says I am the baddest entertainer he has ever watched. We are both very talented individually, but we believe we have understanding, “we have been doing it together forever, so why change it now that we are going professional. I believe there is a lot of experimentation we will do in the future and we are very capable of working as single artists too.”
