Bandits, in the early hours of Sunday, stormed the residence of a high court judge, Justice Farouk Hassan Bunza,  at Zogirma road in Bunza Local Government Area of Kebbi State, and abducted him.

Sources told newsmen that the judge had just returned from Sokoto, when the gunmen invaded his house.

It was gathered that the bandits started shooting sporadically  before whisking the judge away.

When contacted, the state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Bashir Usman, confirmed the incident.

He said: “I can confirm that Justice Farouk Hassan Bunza was abducted from his residence in Bunza around midnight.”

Usman added that  on receiving the report of his abduction, the Commissioner of Police in the state, Umar Muhammad Hadejia, immediately deployed tactical and intelligence operatives in the area to ensure his safe return.

Usman said the police were detailed to comb the forest, adding that they are now in the forest tracking the kidnappers.
